Achievement and SIP

Measures of Student Achievement and Success

Students in grade 3 and grade 6 take part in the provincial EQAO assessment each May. Students learn to take responsibility for their learning by setting goals, gathering evidence of their academic progress and participating actively in on-going self-assessment. Students are involved in various demonstrations of their learning including assemblies, presentations, and sports events

School Improvement Plans and Initiatives

Our School Learning Plan (SLP) and initiatives were developed with input from all staff members to develop short and long term goals. Our SLP in the 2015-2016 school year focuses on improving writing skills throughout the curriculum through use of effective feedback.  Technology, such as our new IPads, is integrated into the classroom activities.

Ongoing activities that we have implemented to enhance literacy include:

  • Early Literacy and Balanced Literacy Programs
  • Home-School Reading Program
  • Significant enhancements to the book room and library
  • We pride ourselves on a variety of special programs and activities that are offered to our students throughout the year that focus on the arts and athletics.
  • We offer a comprehensive cultural program presented by professional performers to expose our students to various cultural experiences.
