Welcome to First Avenue Public School!
It is a privilege to be a part of such a wonderful school community. I have been an educator for over 20 years and have taught all grades from JK-8, including the Congregated Gifted Program and Primary Specialized Programs. Before coming to First Avenue PS, I was the Vice Principal at Bayshore PS for 3 years. I also worked centrally as the OCDSB Mathematics Lead K-12 for several years. I was responsible for the implementation and monitoring of various board-based and school-based initiatives and the development of district-wide resources to support professional development and school improvement plans.
I am a dedicated educator with a strong commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment that enables students of diverse backgrounds and learning styles to engage and achieve to their fullest personal and academic potential. I am committed to building strong and collaborative partnerships with parents, staff, students and the school community in support of student achievement and well being. My goal has always been to be an advocate for others, to ensure that all students learn with curiosity and their learning needs are being met, and to support and inspire them along their educational pathway.
Our school hosts students from Kindergarten through to grade 6. We offer Middle French Immersion beginning in grade four. We are also privileged to host specialized classes for students diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and Giftedness. In addition, Glebe Parents’ Daycare hosts a third-party child care program onsite - offering early years and before and after school programming.
We have an active School Council that works hard to enrich the experiences of our students. First Avenue Public School also possesses a wonderful sense of community that is inclusive of all students and their families. Committed to the OCDSB’s Culture of Caring, Innovation and Social Responsibility, we seek to support the well-being and academic success of our students.
I invite and encourage parents/guardians to come to school and be part of our learning community. School council is a place to engage in conversation about learning at school and to meet with other parents/guardians of our school. We are always happy to have new faces join us around the table.
